YUGOSLAVIA: KOSOVO: REFUGEES

thumbnail image

Agencies dealing with the Kosovo refugee crisis have said that they think they do now know what happened to the tens of thousands of refugees who were removed - some against their will - from a border camp on Wednesday. Most of them have been tracked down to other campas in Albania and Macedonia. But there are new fears for ethnic Albanians who haven't been able to get out of Kosovo. The International Development Secretary, Claire Short, spoke of a worrying change in Serb tactics - there's concern that the refugees may be used as human shields. The town of Omagh has offered to take in some of the refugees.
